Kate Charbonneau

Kate Charbonneau recently competed at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, which were held in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada from January 16^th through January, 22. 

 Kate finished with a score of 45.54 for her short program and 96.52 for her Free Skate, resulting in a combined total of 142.06.  This places Kate in 6^th overall among senior ladies for Canada.

Bloomington Champions

The Annual “Celebration of Champions” was held at the Bloomington Ice Garden on February 19^th, 2012, recognizing Minnesota State Champions, Sectional, National & International competitors as well as TCFSA award recipients.  Several of our own FSC of Bloomington and a’Xel skaters were featured, based on their accomplishments this past year:

Cassidy Murray – Minnesota State Open Juvenile Ladies Champion

Emma Enebak – Minnesota State Juvenile Girls Champion

Michelle Hedges – Upper Great Lakes Intermediate Ladies Sixth Place

Michelle Hedges also tested in Duluth, passing her Novice moves in the Field test with a performance that was beautiful to watch.

Kiri Baga and coach Lorie Charbonneau in the 'Kiss & Cry' at US Nationals

Kiri Baga made a very successful senior debut at the 2012 US Figure Skating Championships held in San Jose, CA, January 22-29, 2012.  This was also Kiri’s return to competitive ice after taking about a year off due to injury.  Despite these odds, Kiri scored 50.15 for her short program and 99.23 for her long program, resulting in a personal best with a combined score of 149.38, and finishing in the top 10 Senior Ladies in the United States.  Congratulations, Kiri!

Michelle Hedges skated in her first national competition December 10 – 14, 2011,  at the US Junior National Figure Skating Championships, which were held in Michigan.  Skating a remarkable long program in the initial round, she qualified for the final round with a score of 53.18, her highest score of the competition season.  In the championship round, Michelle scored 28.33 for her short program, placing her in 14^th, and 49.30 for 16^thplace in her long program, with an overall score of 77.63.

Out of 42 Intermediate ladies competing at Junior Nationals, Michelle placed 15^thoverall in the United States as an Intermediate.  Congratulations Michelle, we are so proud of you!

Michelle Hedges

Michelle Hedges placed 6^th in the Intermediate Ladies championship round with a combined score of 81.11 for her short program and free skate.  Michelle will move on to compete at the 2012 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships held December 10-14 in East Lansing, Michigan.

CALE AMBROZ

Cale Ambroz won the silver medal in the Junior Men’s division.  His combined score for His short program and free skate was 140.25, qualifying Cale to compete at the 2012 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, which take place November 15^th – 19^th in Fort Collins, Co.

KIRI BAGA

Our third qualifier is Kiri Baga, who took gold in the Senior Ladies division. Kiri’s combined score for her short program and free skate was 143.46 and Kiri also moves on to compete at the 2012 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in November.

At the Sectionals, both Cale and Kiri will vie for the opportunity to compete at the 2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships to be held in January in San Jose, CA.

We would also like to extend special congratulations to Hanna Johnson, who qualified for final round at regionals in the Novice Ladies’ division and to Ben Jalovick, who skated in final round in the Novice Men’s division as well as to all of our non-qualifying level competitors who made it to final rounds in their respective levels.  Great job everyone!
